Indian Genocide
21st Century Decimation

The blows kept raining on my head, hands and back. I did not ask them to stop beating me. I became silent, tried to hold my breath and stiffen my body.

I asked, ‘Why are you attacking me? What wrong have I done?’ But they did not listen to my words and went on hitting me. They were shouting maro saale mulleko [kill the bastard Muslim]. There were many other men who stood by who did not come to save me.

Mob violence victim, Mohammad Zubair, 2020

If 100 of us become soldiers and are prepared to kill 2 million (Muslims), then we will win ... protect India, and make it a Hindu nation.

Pooja Shakun Pandey, Hindu Mahasabha Party, 2021

If we want humanity to last, we will need to clean it of Muslim jihadis. There should be treatment, management for jihadis on this earth. There is a jihadi and a terrorist in each Islamic home. Hindu society needs to stand up, otherwise these jihadis will find a cure for Hindus, and there will be no place on this earth for us to live.

One thing is certain, if they come into my space and I find out, they will not leave. I have lived for 14 years among jihadis, I’m not that weak. There will be a pile of corpses, across the country you will see corpses. This is certain, nobody will stop us.

Swami Prabodhanand Giri, Hindu Raksha Sena, 2021

Being a cow in India is safer than being a Muslim, says Shashi Tharoor, member of the Indian National Congress party.

India’s Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, is the leader of the Hindu ultra-nationalist BJP party. The party is founded on the Hindutva ideology, which sees Hindus as the utopian citizens of India. Inspired by both Nazi Germany and Mussolini’s fascists in Italy, Hindutva envisions India to have always been a Hindu nation and perceives Islam as an alien force that threatens India through invasion.

Hindutva is manifested in both extreme and softer forms, ranging from a demand for Hindu principles to dictate the state’s decision-making processes to the expulsion, boycotting, lynching, or conversion of all non-Hindus. As the second-largest religious majority, Muslims have been the primary targets of this mentality.

The intensification of mob violence and the spread of false information continues to endanger Muslims throughout India. Narratives of Muslims being suboptimal citizens, security threats, and war-crazed invaders continue to infiltrate every level of Indian society and politics.

Being the largest democracy in the world does not minimise the divisive and discriminatory nature of the current Indian government. Critics have stated that the Indian political powers allowing such violence to occur will lead to genocide. According to Rana Ayyub, “not only does Modi’s silence give encouragement to the most dangerous elements threatening India, but the silence of allies also enables them”.
